Cannes Jewelry Heist ‘Worth About $136 Million’

CANNES, France (AFP) – An armed man who burst into a hotel in the French Riviera resort of Cannes stole jewels worth around $136 million (103 million euros), prosecutors said Monday, in one of the world’s biggest jewelry thefts.

Authorities had initially estimated the heist — which took place on Sunday in broad daylight — was worth around 40 million euros.
